Most of the energy loss in a home is through the windows and doors. Leaking windows can be quite tricky to deal with since there are many different aspects to take into consideration. If your double-pane windows have had a seal fail, they could be the main problem since they will lose a lot of their ability to insulate your home properly. This is unfortunately not a problem you can fix yourself, so you would need professional help for that.
On the other hand, if there are cracks around your window, you might be able to fix the issue yourself. It might be possible to spot where there are cracks and holes by shining a light around the edge of the window. If not, thermal imaging can definitely spot any areas where there are leaks.
For a wooden window frame, you can fix cracks just using wood filler.
Before doing any repairs, it is important that any old and rotten wood is completely removed and scraped clean before repairs are attempted. Otherwise, you will soon be facing the same issue again.
