Do you have any appliances that use water? You most likely have at least a few, most commonly a clothes washer and a dish washer, and possibly even a fridge with an ice maker.
With any of those appliances, you do have some added risk of damage to your home. A leak from either of those appliances could cause a lot of damage, especially if they go undetected for a long time. This is especially common with dishwashers since they often are installed inside of the kitchen counter, leaving a lot of space behind the counter where water could leak and then sit for a long time. One of the most common causes of water damage is your clothes washer. If the water supply line for a washer breaks and water starts gushing out, it is possible that you don’t notice it until it has gone on for quite a while. That can dump 100s of gallons of water inside your basement that you would then need to clear up.
